RE: Hamilton Village Planning Board to discuss recommendation of rezoning 5-acre parcel to accommodate Good Nature Farm Brewery & Tap Room’s Proposed New Brewery

Dear Fellow Hamilton Community Members,
We, Good Nature Farm Brewery & Tap Room, have been in contract to purchase a five acre parcel located South of the Village of Hamilton Center on the west side of NYS Route 12B since January 2015. We plan to build a new brewery that could be a tremendous boon to the community and region. The project has been in planning since Spring 2014.

This Thursday, September 24th, the Village of Hamilton Planning Board will review our Preliminary Development Plan at their regular meeting at the Village Courthouse at 7PM. The Planning Board will discuss whether to recommend that the proposed project site be re-zoned in order to accommodate our new brewery. This meeting is the first of several public meetings to come, which will determine whether or not we will be able to build our brewery here.

The project has experienced significant delays. Further delays could prevent the project from moving forward at all. We are reaching out to you today to encourage supporters of our project to attend this meeting on the 24th, as well as the meetings to follow. Public support through attending public meetings and submitting written letters of support directly to the Village Office will help demonstrate community support of our Project to Village Officials and hopefully prevent further delay.

We have been actively seeking to purchase property in the Village of Hamilton for a new brewery for over 3 years. We have been working to build on the proposed site on 12B for about a year and a half. We now find ourselves in a position that if we cannot gain the local approvals we need in order to move forward with the project on the proposed site in time to break ground this Spring, we may have to move the project to another municipality.

A little background on our project:
Good Nature’s project involves the construction of a roughly 6000 ft2 building to be used as a brewery, tasting room, and office space. The plan is to renovate an existing 3500 ft2 building for use as warehouse and additional office space. In addition to drawing tourism to the area, GNB will be able to support and promote more NY family farms, small businesses, and artists, and create many more new jobs in the burgeoning craft beer industry and beyond. This project could transform Good Nature into a significant employer in the area, providing much needed high quality jobs in many fields. The project would immediately create an additional 16 full-time equivalent jobs, while retaining 10 existing positions, as well as any number of part-time, temporary, and seasonal positions ranging from production, packaging and warehouse, to lab work, research, and sales and marketing. The project will also create many indirect industry-related jobs in fields such as agriculture, business and personal services, construction, finance, insurance, real estate, manufacturing, retail, transportation, communication, travel, entertainment, and wholesale.

The construction of a new brewery in this location will allow us to expand the collaborative and community minded efforts that have been a hallmark of our business since its inception in 2010. I invite any member of the community to reach out directly to me personally with any questions.
Hamilton is our home. Good Nature has become our family. We have been working hard for a long time to ensure that we can continue to operate here in the Village.
